How fabulous to be treated like my opinions mattered and to be exposed to fascinating classroom discussion with a whole bunch of really sharp people. That is how I remember my year studying the HDPM (as it was called then) in 1987.
Loet Douwes-Dekker was an absolute maestro in challenging the views of the class in regard to labour issues and opening our minds to new ideas.
We were the first class to complete this course part-time. A real challenge and motivated me to become a life long learner.

My WBS story is one that will be forever fulfilling; it was full of goodness, headaches, hard work, and in the end strong corporate networks and friendships to last me a lifetime. Being a WBS alumnus will give me lifelong confidence, the knowledge that I gained gave me wings to fly and opened career doors…
I met many outstanding professionals at Wits. The part-time MBA was a memorable experience, and I met many outstanding professionals at Wits. I would particularly like to mention Mike Pycraft, who lectured one of my favourite subjects (Operations) and who was a mentor and sounding board in the early days of me starting my business….
Congratulations, WBS, on your 50th year celebrations! In 1992, events exposed our class to very exciting political events. We had two superb politics teachers. Prof Schlemmer and Prof van Zyl Slabbert!
