A defining moment in my career
It seems like just yesterday when I moved almost 2 000km from home, Thohoyandou in Venda to Bellville in Cape Town, left a secure comfortable job in academia and joined Sanlam as a research consultant in their employee benefits division. 

This was the first of many times of not being afraid to dive into the deep end, so to say. Then I decided to pursue an MBA at Wits Business School. I remember having to explain to everyone, why with an already successful career, I wanted to continue learning. My explanation was that it is not about the activity or the job, it is about me trying to constantly become my best self and so I will not pass up an opportunity to learn.

In the end, all the VIP football stadium seats and the peaceful nights’ sleep I had to forgo was worth every bit of the professional and personal growth I gained. I learnt that there is no growth in comfort. Although I did not know it at the time, the Sanlam job would be the opportunity that would lead me into so many life-changing experiences. My commitment to quality, dedication to satisfying customer needs, and integrity have seen me sail through even the worst of tasks.
